About me:
For over 30 years I have worked extensively with digital imaging and computer graphic systems, both as a photographer and as a Civil Engineering Techologist in the consulting engineering industry. I use high end digital medium format and DSLR cameras and professional lenses plus a wide variety of imaging software applications to meet and exceed my client’s expectations.
My first foray into aerial photography was back in 1999 when much effort went into developing the skills to quickly change roll after roll of film in a pitching helicopter, without a door with the wind blasting through the cabin. Fortunately digital professional cameras came onto the scene shortly after, and, fortunately again, I seem to have a cast iron stomach for spinning in a helicopter or plane in an almost vertical attitude while looking through a zoom lens ... unlike many photographers, and a few photo assistants and clients as well!
After a few years of managing three career paths, in the consulting engineering industry, as an artist, and as a professional aerial photographer, I reluctantly had to put my 25 years of engineering skills to rest in 2005 to give me the time and energy to pursue my art and photography full time.
I live in Calgary but regularly travel across Canada for photo flights for a wide variety of clients. I have reciprocal arrangements with other aerial photographers in other parts of the world, particularly in the US. In 2011, I will be expanding to offer my services to more locations from coast to coast in Canada.
Please call or email me anytime to discuss your requirements. I look forward to offering my unique and distinctive services to you and would be pleased to supply references.

Photography for me is more than a business. It is a passion! Capturing a perfect, unique image that tells a story or evokes an emotion is like being a big game trophy hunter of times past ... and no animals ever get hurt!
Grand landscapes, aerials, intimate macros, urban life, architecture, sports and people are just some of the targets of my photographic safaris. Often, the "out of the camera" photograph is just a starting point. I have always enjoyed taking the "digital darkroom" to the next level with innovative editing and artistic techniques that I use for the creation of fine art and commissioned paintings and unique and distinctive imagery. I challenge myself to try and learn something new every day!
Along the paths of life I have been fortunate to have met many inspiring and creative people, photographed in amazing places and experienced many different facets of our interesting world.
Thanks to my wife, Sue, and my grown up kids, Jason and Kristen for inspiring me to follow my heart and for putting up with those sudden pull-off-the-highway maneouvers when the light and subject matter come together for creating a great photograph.
Thanks to my many friends that I have had the pleasure of going on many photographic road trips with. Even on the rare occasions that the weather and light don't cooperate, the comraderie and just plain fun that we have, make these road trips a very special part of my life.
Thanks to everyone who supported my career change ... even though they surely thought I had a screw loose to switch from one of the highest paid industies to one of the lowest! (Fortunately the financial hit was only temporary).
Of course thanks to my fantastic clients, many of whom have become close friends over the years. You are the ones primarily responsible for the success of Peak Experience Imagery. I look forward to many more successful years ahead of following my passion and forging my own path in the world.
A special thanks to the dedicated and skilled pilots, ground crews and air traffic control folks that keep me safely in the air to pursue my dreams.
